Arbitration - Al Suwaidi & Company

At Al Suwaidi & Company, we have an extensive background in local and international commercial arbitration, acting as counsel in disputes and as arbitrators under the rules of all leading national and international arbitral institutions, including the Dubai International Arbitration Centre and the International Chamber of Commerce.

Our arbitration practice encompasses a range of matters including commercial, construction, energy, and oil, gas and general disputes.

We also have extensive experience in domestic and international mediation as counsel and as mediators. Our litigation team has vast experience in dealing with matters such as enforcing foreign arbitral awards.

Al Suwaidi & Company’s arbitration expertise is one of the top leading international dispute resolution practices. We represent clients in Arbitration disputes under the auspices of various Arbitration Centres.

Al Suwaidi & Company’s arbitration lawyers are involved with numerous commercial arbitrations, along with a steady flow of sovereign work, typically with investors. Regularly recognized in league tables as a leading arbitration practice, Al Suwaidi and Company has handled international disputes for more than twenty years. We have unparalleled expertise and experience in this area. Our Arbitration Group also advises on litigation risks and arbitration clause solutions for international joint venture and other financial and commercial transactions.

Furthermore, we have the local knowledge to apply regulatory, economic, political and cultural context to legal issues and develop case strategies. We regularly handle technically challenging and complex multi-jurisdictional matters. In addition to regular participation in arbitral proceedings, our firm cooperates with other international law firms to apply for ratification and enforcement of awards.

Additionally, we are capable of handling disputes during Arbitration and later during enforcement before UAE Courts, which adds another advantage to the efficiency and understanding of the dispute to the benefit of the client. This also contributes to reducing fees, as our lawyers will require less time to build their case having become familiar with the dispute during the arbitration proceedings.

Al Suwaidi & Company combines ‘expert knowledge of international arbitration and strong local law knowledge’  to deliver a rounded practice to both local and international clients, with construction continuing to be a key source of mandates. Head of arbitration Nigel Truscott has ‘a supportive approach’. Head of litigation Fahmy Hallag is also recommended.
