About the Speakers

The speakers are a senior business leader, English and Irish solicitors with over 20 years experience of the UAE corporate environment and a highly experienced Intellectual Property lawyer. They are:

Nigel Truscott
Partner,  Al Suwaidi & Co

Nigel is a solicitor and practicing arbitrator described by the legal 500 Directory as providing ‘real help navigating the legal landscape of the UAE’ and  the Chambers Legal Directory as having ‘a strong reputation for really knowing his stuff’. In Legal 500 2013 he is recommended, being described as “having a very supportive approach”.

Nigel is a founding committee member of the UAE branch of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators and ICC and DIAC registered. He is also a key Chairman of the BBG business focus groups.

John Merrigan
Partner, Tamayyaz

Carol Gately
Associate,  Al Suwaidi & Co

Carol is an Associate with Al Suwaidi & Company.   She is an Irish qualified and practising solicitor and has practiced on significant corporate cases since 1999.  She is also admitted as a solicitor to practice law in England and Wales.

She  has experience in corporate law across a broad spectrum of areas in the UAE with a special focus on Arbitration.  She  is currently involved in significant (US$ million) commercial disputes  advising high profile local and international clients together with Government and quasi-Government organizations.  Her key clients include Emarat and Enoc. She has been described by Visa International as a “bright, articulate, friendly individual“.
